TRIR, DART, SIF potential, inspections, observations, training hours... the average safety dashboard contains plenty of numbers.
But do those numbers help leaders understand how well safety is being managed? Do they show whether safety efforts are producing meaningful results? Most importantly, do they help someone decide what to do next?
In this Safety Leaders’ Forum, Sharon Lipinski will facilitate a candid panel discussion with three experienced safety leaders:
• Wyatt Bradbury
• Tony Militello
• Karen LaRue
Together, they bring perspectives from safety management systems, manufacturing, consulting, and insurance. They’ll explore how organizations can move beyond simply counting safety activity and create dashboards that connect strategy, action, and results.
Before deciding what to measure, organizations need to understand what they expect the information to do.
We’ll explore:
Organizations are often very good at counting activity: inspections completed, audits conducted, observations submitted, and training hours delivered. But activity does not necessarily equal impact.
We’ll discuss:
Collecting data creates little value if no one knows what to do with it.
We’ll explore:
Wyatt brings expertise in safety management systems, including work related to the evolving ANSI Z16 standard. He will explore how activities, indicators, and outcomes connect and why those relationships matter more than making every number green.
Tony brings experience from military leadership and the insurance industry. He will explore what makes a measure actionable and how safety information connects to claims, costs, compliance, and business performance.
Karen brings the perspective of a safety leader in a large manufacturing organization. She will explore how safety information moves from frontline conversations to global scorecards and how to make it useful at every level.

The discussion was fantastic – lots of great insight from peers in similar situations just trying to fight the good fight."
What Is The Safety Leaders' Forum?
The Safety Leaders’ Forum is a virtual event series for those responsible for improving safety at their organization or on their teams. It's a place to connect, share challenges, exchange practical approaches, and explore real solutions together.
Do I have to pay to join the forum?
There is never a fee to join one of our forums.
Can I listen to the recording?
These forums are not webinars that you can play in the background while doing something else. It’s a highly interactive, small-group event designed for meaningful discussion. That means there’s no recording, because the value is in the conversation.
Are you selling something?
There is never a sales pitch at these events. It’s simply an opportunity to bring safety and operations leaders together for a candid discussion of an important challenge.
Seats are limited to keep the conversation strategic and collaborative.
